Manufacturing IoT analytics for Utah — OEE, downtime, quality, shop-floor

S2 Data Systems builds manufacturing intelligence platforms for Utah operators across the Wasatch Front and beyond — real-time OEE, downtime root-cause analytics, quality intelligence, and shop-floor dashboards driven by sensor data, MES, and ERP. Hardware-agnostic. Built on the customer's own cloud account.

What we build

Real-time OEE

Live availability × performance × quality calculated from machine telemetry and operator inputs.

Downtime root-cause

Classify and attribute downtime by reason, work center, shift, and operator — with drill-throughs.

Quality analytics

Correlate defects to upstream process variables — temperature, pressure, recipe deviation, batch attributes.

Shop-floor dashboards

Andon-style live displays plus role-based dashboards for supervisors, plant managers, and execs.

MES / ERP integration

Joins with SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Infor, and MES platforms (Plex, Aegis, Critical Manufacturing).

Predictive quality

ML on process data that flags impending out-of-spec batches in time to adjust setpoints.

Outcomes our Utah clients see

  • 10-25% improvement in OEE within the first year
  • Downtime classification at the cause level instead of the symptom level
  • Defect rate reductions of 20-50% on instrumented lines
  • Common KPIs across multi-plant operations for the first time
  • Justified capacity decisions backed by real-time data

Frequently asked questions

Do we need MES installed first?

No. Many Utah manufacturers run on a mix of PLC + SCADA + spreadsheets. S2 starts with whatever instrumentation exists and adds MES-equivalent capabilities incrementally if a full MES isn't justified.

How do we handle multiple plants with different equipment?

Per-plant data sources land in a common warehouse with a unified ISA-95 model. Equipment-specific transformations happen at ingest; analytics work against the unified model. This is the only sustainable approach for multi-plant operators.

What dashboarding tool should we use?

Depends on your existing investment. We integrate with Power BI, Domo, Looker, Tableau, and Grafana. For shop-floor displays, Grafana or a custom React app is often best; for executives, Power BI or Domo.
